Basic materials in 3D.

In this tutorial, Lukasz shows us how he creates effective and simple material setups from one basic map. This powerful technique can be adapted to many 3D programs.

Overview.

Not something we generally show, but in the office we use a lot of professional 3D techniques, mainly involving 3D max. Lukasz is one of our most experienced 3D artists and has a thorough understanding of 3D. In this tutorial we show you a few key techniques to really help take your 3D texturing game to the next level - using one simple map and creating a variety of materials. Along with the 3D file you will also be able to download the 2D post produced interior view created for this tutorial in the YouTube video.

  • Understanding lighting and how it affects materials

  • The importance of imperfections and reflection glossiness in materials using Corona Render

  • Creating different types of materials with 1 texture map
